Jacques Herbin

The house of Jacques Herbin was founded in Paris in 1670. Sealing wax came first and writing inks followed. Both are still made in France, and the wax seals on the bottles are still applied by hand.

The inks are water based, pH neutral and coloured with natural dyes. They are finely filtered so the nib stays clear, and they dry quickly. Alongside the clear tones of the Essentielles range sit the 1670 collection, whose colours carry fine gold particles, and the 1798 range with its silver sheen.
We stock the five colour gift sets, single bottles and ink cartridges in a metal tin. Every ink suits fountain pens, rollerballs, glass dip pens and calligraphy nibs.
