Jacques Herbin ink set 1670 with gold sheen 5 x 10 ml
The 1670 collection marks the year the house of Jacques Herbin was founded in Paris. Sealing wax came first, writing inks followed later. The inks in this range are deep in tone and carry fine gold particles that settle on the paper as the ink dries, leaving a soft shimmer.
The set holds all five colours of the range in miniature glass bottles: Caroube de Chypre, Rouge Hématite, Gris Orage, Bleu Océan and Émeraude de Chivor. The small bottles are a good way to live with each colour for a while before committing to a full one.
The ink is water based, pH neutral and finely filtered so the nib stays clear. It dries quickly and is not water resistant. Give the bottle a gentle turn before filling, so the gold settles evenly through the ink.
It arrives in a grey box with a window, ready to give to anyone who still writes by hand.
